Water temps 57. Did a walleye hunting on wind blown weed edges. Found the dreaded green carp instead. Kept me entertained. Marked fish holding on the breakline at 20 to 25 ft but they were not interested in crankbaits. Might have to resort to minnow rigs. Channels were unproductive also.

Water temps down to 51. Picked up two last night and lost a nice fish about 1/2 way to boat. Bite seems to be just before sunset right now. Weed edges unproductive so far. Lake has begun to turnover. Tough to even mark fish much less catch them. MUSKIES SUCK! Haven’t seen one in a week.

Winners and the biggest fish all came from west end – no surprise. Not many fish caught but lots of fish seen. Sound familiar? The big fish came out of the Red Bridge area. The winners caught both of their fish around Goose Island. Can’t tell you exactly what they were caught on but heard a lot of topwaters and Bulldawgs were being chucked.

We have another month probably before you cant break through to launch… think… BIG EYES. SOme of the biggest fish last year from Tonka came when we had to break through the launch, or more specifically after someone else dropped their trailer through the ice before us…

Drews Dad with fall Tonka eye…

THe big walleyes are still going on Tonka. Water temps were 46 to 47 last night. Got a 28″ and a 29″ in the boat and lost another big one on the way to the boat. Need to slow that trolling speed down to the 1.8 to 2mph range. #12 HJs are still the ticket. I only saw one other boat out there and he was slip bobbering on a point.

Any pointers on where a guy could get started trolling at night on Minnetonka. Not sure if I want to run all the way to mille lacs tonight.

Saw your post on the other forum. I’m headed out tonight on Tonka with Tonka Boy. Want to jump in?? Leaving ~5ish from Howards Point Marina west end. If you can’t make it the channels and the area leading into them are the spots. For example Grays Bay work from the bridge west along the 8ft depths. Arcola, Maxwell and sometimes Tanagers hold fish. I’ll be banging around in either the Halsteds area or Seton.

Water temps are down to high 30 on Tonka. I had to break ice to get to Seton area on Firday night. Walleyes were not biting on cranks. Pitched some plastic and crankbaits but nothing there either. Hopefully this week will pickup.
