    hello-

I am planning on getting out on s. Linstrom and Chisago this weekend and I am wondeirng if anyone has a report on what the water is doing? more specifically the temp and the clarity. If you have any other infomration in regards to the bass fishing, spots, (GPS coordinates of where you nailed them ) that would be great too.

What day are you going, got room in my rig or we could have a little friendly digital photo 6 fish length tourney between a couple of boats. I got no one to go with me at this point but ya never know. Bobby is fishing the upper Miss. this weekend so he can’t play.

    Dan-

I was thinking about heading out on Saturday for a full day out there. I know that my brother was thinking about heading out too but I’m sure we could get another person to have a fun paper tourney.
Nothing better that catching bass with hunters shooting at the birds overhead.

I am not real familiar with these lakes, but the little I do know proved successful. I spent all day Friday and Saturday afternoon throwning spinner baits around deeper bays, small points and weed-edges. Friday the fish were tight to shore and pretty aggressive. I ended up with about 25 fish with the largest coming at just under five on the scale.

Saturday the fish were deeper and less aggressive. I did get 4 fish. All very healthy and just plain fat! Saturdays presentation was much slower, I sized up blade size which really let me slow down.

I had big fun and would be interested in fishing these lakes again this fall. I would appreciate any reports.

    Good luck

I was on these lakes on Sunday and Monday for the first time in my life. Water temp was 54 degrees. There was a slight algee stain on the surface of the water, otherwise the clarity would be about 5′ (?) maybe.

I tried casting spinner baits on Sunday, got one 19″ fish and a few other shorts. Monday was tougher yet for me. Sunday night there was a lot of lightning and some rain which was followed by high winds and bright sun. In hind sight, I know I should of put down the spinner baits and slowed things way down. Perhaps a jig and pig in the wood.

Post how you do, I know this is an excellent fall lake.
    Good luck to ya!

Here is a little report from today.

We ended up getting out there around 11:30 and proceeded to get a good amount of fish in the timber and sparse weedlines. It didn’t seem like there wasn’t any one particular bait that shine over the others (got them on jigs, suspending jerk baits, spinnerbait, rattle traps, and other small cranks). The biggest fish that we caught though all came on the jig. We didn’t find too many groups of fish, one/two here and then nothing for a while. That wind was sure brisk though.
All an all a pretty successful day, 14 fish with the average size around 3# –18″.

The water temp from what we saw range from 53-55 degrees, the water was also stained green and I am expecting that when that starts to clear up the fishing will continue to get better.

I am hoping to get all there again soon, thanks to everyone that gave some info.

I got out again last Thursday and the fishing is really starting to take off. We keyed in on the weed edges and slow rolled spinner baits and jigs. The bigger fish where caught (surprisingly to me) on Spinner baits. We tried rattle traps, small cranks, and jogs worms but only came up with small fish.

I am hoping to get out there again soon as the fishing is only to improve.

Here is a picture of the big fish for the day. Measure ~21.5”, sorry to say I wasn’t the one to catch it.

I ended up getting out there around 9 yesterday and fished with Bigtime and my brother. It was a great day to be on the water with workable winds and great temps. We keyed in on sparse vegetation in 6-9 feet of water. If there was wood present, all the better. For the day, we caught around 16 bass, biggest being around 4.5#. (Bigtime’s) The majority of these fish where in the 16-17″ range, nice looking fish too. The lures that where working for us was mainly a Norman crankbait with orange sides and a green top. We would slow retrieve these baits and occasionally pop them like a jerk bait. The hits where all over the board, some pounding it and engulfing the whole bait in their mouth, while others just barely hit it. We also caught some fish on spinnerbaits being slowed rolled, the biggest fish came on this, but by far the best bait was the crankbait.

I also ended up getting my biggest walleye of my life, 29″. The fish hammered my crankbait about 10 feet from the boat. The funny thing is that I have been going up to Mille Lacs night fishing and hoping to get a pig like this and end up getting one when I least expect it. I also ended up getting a nice pike, on the crankbait too.

All in all it was a great day to be on the water, until around 1:30 when the rain and winds came.

Hopefully there will be a couple more days like this before the dreaded ice fishing season starts.

Here are some pictures of yesterday!

Hey Alphid, good report. It’s good to hear this lake is living up to it’s reputation of being an excellent fall lake. Congrats on the pig eye! Do you remember what the water temp was?

    Good Fishn to Ya,

The water temps where Around 44-46 degrees. I am hoping to get out there again. Hopefully this weather they are talking about coming in doesn’t materialize like they are expecting.

Holy crap!!! What a stellar day!!!!!!!

Hey, does anyone still fish that Sunrise lake (I think that is the name), that has the private access???

It used to be really good for pike in the winter.
