    OK last night was not a textbook ideal night to be out. Post front, windy, dead zone on the lunar calendar. I scratched out 3 nice walleyes trolling shallow with minnow baits. Just goes to show you never can tell about fishing. I also paid for it heading home as the wind just blew the boat spray right in my face. I was soaked in 2 minutes flat. Fun anyhow.

    Gary and I covered a lot of water today. We saw fish at almost every spot we fished. However, we were unable to hook up with any. Gary did get bit off by a monster, I’m sure it was at least 60.

    I wish I would have just seen the pig………..Let alone get my favorite Twister Tail Phantom back……….

    I’ve never been bit off before and that fish hit me like a freight train………..

    Kooty;
    I think I figured out what happened……..If she came up behind the lure during the twitch, my knot was close to the tail end of the Phantom……….The force that she hit the lure at, she might have pushed the tail end towards the knot and when she chomped and turned, she was gone………..

    It still bothers the crap out of me………

    Gary you need to use longer leaders! Man that hurts to have the big one get away like that. I haven’t been chasing muskies – trying to locate those stinking wally eyes with no luck. Might be time to switch it up.
