What is the latest? Are they still hanging around in the deep milfoil or are some of them starting to go shallow?

Last I heard they were still deep. That was a week ago. Should be heading out the middle of next week. I’ll pm you if I find otherwise.

    BC,

I fished a tourny on wed and fri. It took 4lb ave to win, 3+ to cash. Checks were cashed by people fishing foil, rocks, docks, etc. A little bit of everything. On wed I managed to catch a 4lb 6oz smallie, my biggest for a while. I would suggest fishing your strength right now and go from there. The fall patterns will be starting soon.

I didn’t realize there were big smallies on that lake…interesting. They must be pretty hard to locate huh?

How are things on Tonka right now? It should be pretty good I would think.

The only time I can catch smallies is during the spawn in the spring and again in the fall. I’m not sure what the lake is like now. I’ve been fishing the Chisago area and hunting.

I fished Tonka on Saturday afternoon for a few hours. The largemouth were biting pretty good. Didn’t find numbers in any one spot, but the quality was decent and when they bit, there was no doubt about it. Pretty typical bite for this time of year out there.
