Lucky enough to make it out two days in a row on Minnetonka. This morning my little brother Josh joined me and I schooled the young guy. He usually kicks my butt so that was fun for me. It was as windy as I have ever seen it on Tonka (looked more like Mille Lacs on the main section.) This made boat control tough and relegated us to shoreline docks on the south sides of land. Pitched tubes again as I had so much fun yesterday and nailed a few nice fish. The first one was taken in Carlson bay on a green Storm Rattle Tube (they like this color today over blue.) The smallie was taken right next to the bridge embankment at Gray’s bay boat launch. I saw this fish following my tube, so I fluttered it down, and she followed. Out of sight, but my line twitched and just stuck her. What a feeling right below the boat with no slack in the line.
Kooty, did you make it to Indy yet? I haven’t connected with a muskie since spring on the St. Croix.
Good luck to anybody going out. Drink lots of water.

Nice fish! You aren’t kidding about the wind yesterday. We didn’t even try the deep stuff. Hopefully this weekend will be better.

You darn teachers, must be nice to have the summer “off”. I haven’t been out this week. I’m thinking of Indy tomorrow morning early and Tonka on Sunday morning. I haven’t checked the weekend weather, so I’m not sure what I’ll be getting into. I’ll report back if I find anything good.

    Those are very nice fish!!!

Ya know, it makes a guy chuckle a little bit.

With all the boats that launch out of Gray’s, then go right past all that good fishing, just to buzz to the “other side of the lake”.

In that bay, on the west side of that bridge, has hosted some GREAT pike fishing!!!! Many fish over 30 inches!!!!

(PS: There is also some good muskies in that area. It is a nice spot to troll cranks over suspended fish. WATCH YOUR GRAPH AS YOUR ROLL THROUGH AND YOU MIGHT BE SURPRISED AT WHAT YOU CAN SNAG!!!!!)

Gary, thanks for the compliment…it was a fun day and I could fish tubes all day if the fish are on. I know it’s funny how we always tend to think the grass is greener on the other side…but you are right. That is a great section of water from the bridge all the way out to, and past the no wake zone. If you could catch it during the week when there hasn’t been a lot of traffic…there is such great structure and deep water there, it would have to hold some fish. Keep giving your tips and might have your “milk run” after all (or maybe a couple of spots.) Just kidding man. If you ever need a guest in the boat, i’ll where a blind fold until the boat stops, and put it back on when we’re moving.

To be honest with you………..The area you just mentioned is a GREAT “milk run” for skis!!!!

You really don’t need to travel any further, for all that area is a full day work out, to work it right!!!
