    Headed out tomorrow morning with the brother from 4-10am on Tonka to chase muskies…anybody finding them lately? Are they still up shallow on the inside weeds or have they moved out to their more traditional places? Any input would be appreciated.

    I fished them last Saturday morning with Gary. We didn’t see a fish. We targeted shallow areas early and then moved off to the deep weed edges as the sun got higher. Slow morning for us, but what a beautiful morning she was!! Good Luck!!!!

    The water is warm now. You can expect to find these fish in your more traditional locations.

    Focus on areas that access to deep water.

    Kooty;
    That was a very frustrating morning for me. Even though we were only out a few hours, I’m still baffled that we never raised a fish. I think the clear sky didn’t help things.

    Today, should be a good day to go!!!
    The weather has been stable for a few days, and even though the sun is shinning bright, she is “sticky” out. Whenever it is “sticky” out, the fishing is always good!

    Been out twice this week in traditional spots nothing doing. Moved shallow still nada. Going deep basin hunting tonight – troll open water out deeper from traditional spots and we’ll see if that gets them moving. Marking a lot of suspended fish in 30 to 40ft. Stopped to fish them and turned out to be sunnies and small crappie schools. Muskies have to be close by.

    I saw 2 muskies while bass fishing wed. They were crusing over the tops of weeds in 12′ and weeds came up to about 6′. They appeared to be low and mid 40’s. Hope this helps guys.

    The cruisers seldom hit a lure. They’re just checking things out. Found a school of small bass suspended out deep. Figured they would make nice musky snacks so trolled a crankbait at 15ft through the area. 5 nice northerns as fast as I could get the crank back down. Not sure what the bass were feeding on but I know what the northerns were tracking. Probably some muskies around but the pike were super aggressive. Going to do some more deep basin trolling this weekend and see if the pattern holds. Wasted 2 hours on the deep weed edge before I headed out deeper. Water temps were pushing 80 so the fish have the feed bag on. Maybe holding deeper to find more comfortable temps and then slipping in the weed edge for a quick snack??? The schools of sunnies and small crappies are huge this year.

    Stan!!!
    I hear ya on all the sunnies!!! I think this year is a “bumper crop”. I have never seen so many massive schools of sunnies, as I have this year.
