We were on Waconia on Saturday with 4# being the largest. Their was a tournament going on their at the same time. We tried to stay out of the guys ways most of the day. Fish were in the shallows in the reeds but nothing like before the cold front came in. Fish pulled out and you could catch them on the weedlines then. Went to Tonka on Sunday and Monday at it was alot tougher than expected. We fished bedding fish both days and Monday when the warm sunny weather came in they started piling in to the shallows. 3.75# was the largest. But alot of nice 2 1/2 to 3. None of the big hogs we were looking for, but it was a blast hunting them down on the beds. Some of the locals were out fishing the milfoil where the big girls were waiting to come in, but not being to familiar with where to start we decided to just keep fishing beds. Water temps were around 62 when we got their Saturday a.m. and were 68 to 69 when we left. Word of caution: If your going to Tonka on the weekend, WHERE A JOCK STRAP!!!. Love the fishery, but dislike all the traffic. Fishnut

I saw about the same temps, starting sat 59 and ending today at 65 main lake, higher in bays. We saw lots of 2lb fish crusing the shallows the last couple days, but did not see the big girls. In today’s tourny it took 30lbs to win on 8 fish and 23lb to cash a check. We missed the boat on the big girls. Oh well, a few more days to practice for that classic!

well I fished tonka on sunday and monday and didn’t even get a bite. I found a few swimming through the foil in about 10-12 fow and tried everything in the box, to no avail, still no bite. I tried top water, spinner, husky jerks, spook, buzz baits, and even flipped some outcast jigs that mike finke sold me at the bass expo. them didn’t even work niether, but got good practice on flipping docks. we still are looking for the first official bass in our boat. me and my buddy are throwing down $50 each for the most weight by the end of the season wins. but it was a rough opener for us, any ideas or suggestions would be most appreciated.

    thanks
