I’ll be on Demontreville, throwing the Bass Bugs I spent all winter tying up. I’m not expecting a great top water bite with the cool (cool ….cold!) water temps but this has more to do with tradition than results. Good luck to everybody and here’s hoping we get some decent weather!

The early bird will get the worm,I will be fishing McCarrens in St.Paul.

There is a bass that still haunts me and I must pursue it.

Last year on openier a freind and I where site fishing and I saw what I thought was a toemato stake that was sumerged in the weeds.I was thinking this is odd how could a stake that floats be sumerged and then it moved,[it was the laterial lineI saw the fish 3 more times moveing in and out of the inside weed line so we camp for a couple of hours and got some great fish, but this one still haunts me.

A guy has to love Tonka for a lake. It is such an incredible fishery with so much structure. There are so many options in methods to fish with so many quality species.

    Hey Mike,
Are you fishing the Extreme Bass on Okoboji Sat.?
I will be fishing as well. What’s your estimated winning weight?
    When can we pre-fish until?

    Steve,

Yes I will be fishing the extreme on Okoboji on sat. The lake has been off limits since mon and is off limits to fishing until the tournament sat. I’m thinking someone will bring in 20lbs. I’m fishing with Mike dahl in a white Champion. Say hi!

Sorry about your luck for a partner Mike!!! I guess you’ll just have to catch a few more fish this tourney. Tell Dahl I said HI.

    Hey Mike,
I think it was a pretty tough bite down there.
We caught a lot of fish, but many were shorts.
Did you catch any smallies? I think some locals took top honors.

    Steve,

Having not done any prefishing we didn’t chase the smallies. We only manage 3 over 15″, with many 14″+ fish. We use weightless stickworms to get our fish. The bite was about what I expected, although I thought there may be a few more 4Lb+ fish vaught.
