Water temp was 51 in main lake some back bays were as high as 58. Bass and carp were roaming the shallows but crappies still seem to be elsewhere. I am still able to catch some during daylight hours but the best bite remains to be after sunset. Haven’t found the big females yet. Just a matter of time.

Fished a few lakes a little farther west and found fishing to be tough yesterday. Just a matter of time though.

I found fish in Tanager Lake Wednesday and Friday. Got about 15 each day. Three were over 10″. All on a plain minnow under a bobber. Friday I looked in Maxwell and Stubbs but found no crappies, just bass and a norton.

Tried some different spots last night – caught about 30 but nothing over 10″ amd most smaller. Well excluding the largemouths anyway. Lots of baitfish in the back bays so we are close

The shallow bite was off over the weekend not sure why. Temps are hitting the low 60s in some of the small back bays. Plenty of bass and pike and bait fish in the back bays but the crappies are scarce. I continue to do better after sunset in some sheltered spots on the main lake. I have caught a ton of very thick 8 to 9″ fish – next year ought to be real good for slabs.
