Doesn’t matter now but the northerns were on fire over the weekend. Heard reports of 20 flags in half a day. Fish in the 5 to 10lb range very common. I was out for two hours on Sat and my little group had 5 flags go. Biggest was 32″. I had to leave and the guys said they had 4 flags go off as I was driving off. Lots of fun – the fish were putting up a good battle. The real interesting part was Friday I was without a vehicle so I just walked out from my dock area and plopped down some shiners thinking to catch a pike or two. Just 18ft no structure what so ever. Sand bottom. Caught two walleyes as sun went down. Have never fished for walleye there and if you follow walleye structure rules they shouldn’t be there either. Now I wonder what would have happened if I fished there all winter instead of classic walleye spots.

I’ll second that. I was out in Wayzata bay and Browns Bay on Sat and Sunday. 3 pike on Sat; 5 on Sunday. On Sunday, I had 4 pike out of the same hole! Nothing big – did get one @ 29″ that actually pushed my scale over 8lb. A complete football!. I caught more pike this weekend than all winter long..
