OK, it’s 4:30 AM and as usual I’m throwing a topwater with my flyrod. I feel a hit and fight a muskrat up to the boat. A Muskrat! Fortunately I didn’t get a good set on him and was able to shake to shake the hooks out. No, I didn’t get a release picture

This leads me to wonder: What is the strangest thing you’ve ever caught?

MYSELF!! I was fishing for trout on the Big Trimbelle when my rapala got caught in a tree limb on the opposite bank…… Well do I need to explain anymore??? YUP! I decided to yank it free. “I got it out of the tree alright! But it ended up in the front of my neck. At first I thought it was caught on my shirt, because it didn’t hurt when I grabbed the rapala to unhook it. I then felt the treble hook to saee what it was actually hooked on. When I tugged on the rapala the skin from my neck pulled forward too. I then thought to myself…. OH! OH! I finally decided that I would stop up and talk to a farmer that was working a field just up from the river. After he just shook his head, we went up to his shed to see what he had to remove the treble. Well after about 15 minutes of finding nothing. I decided to run to the clinic in Red Wing and have them look at it. Well when I walked up to the lady at the front desk, she aske me what the problem was? I just pointed at my neck. She just replied..”OH!!” I know she was just at me inside. Eventually after a LLLOOOONNNGGG wait in the WAITING room I got to see a doctor, who gave me a shot in the neck to kill the pain. (I didn’t have any pain in my neck till he gave me that darn shot! ) He then just pulled the barb all the way thru and clipped it off and passed it back thru. There… how’s that for strange.
p.s. I still have that rapala… kept it for a good luck charm.

    Hey Rootski!

My dad caught a big dragon fly with his fly once. I was wondering if the dragon fly was chasing it or if he just hooked it in mid air.

My Dad once caught a bat with a Bass Oreno. I asked Dad if he was going to use the bat for bait and he didn’t think it was very funny.

Two years ago I was trolling a big crank bait around a point up on Spirit Lake (near Aitkin). I caught a car radio! I think someone was using it with a jug and peice of rope to mark the end of the point.
