Yeah I don’t fish for notherns, So I can’t help you much there… I bet today would been awesome out on the water, I was out on some “local” water tonight and found some very nice fish. (crappies) Couple of the big ones you would’ve swore were little snakes with the fight they put up.

Well, a forgetable trip. Ever have one of those days on the water, where nothing goes right? Last night was that to a T. Forgot Slip bobber rod, forgot plastics, bowmount went dead. All I did was troll around – no takers. Ton of bass boats flying around the lake. Water is cool – 69.

Would love to hook up with someone who fishes here more regularly. Maybe a swap for Pool 2?

Ok, I have some general questions. I know Prior is a top notch bass lake. Guys pound the docks, and I’ve heard this technique sees a fair amount of eyes caught also (heard this from several people). I’ve heard also that the fish in the lake are EXTREMELY structure oriented, and if you can find the humps, you may do well.

Now that being said, what techniques, other than what I listed are people using? I am not asking for locations – part of fishing is learning this yourself. All I am asking for are techniques to get me started. Trolling is a pain in the summer, and I’ve had very limited luck – although my largest eye came out of Prior a few years back.

    Help me out

As stated earlier, I would love to hook up with someone, and would trade something for the ride…

I’d be willing to hook up with you sometime, but it would probably be more of the blind leading the blind type of deal I haven’t fished Prior too much, I have heard some ideas and areas, but have yet to test anything really. Not that I’m a killer walleye fisher man anyways… Buty if you’re interested in scoputing some options out someday holler. A Prior lake expert I’m not. People I’ve talked to lindy rigged, leeches with good results.

Depp rocks are a key to big bass on Prior. Drop shots, cranks and Carolina rigs are usually the winning patterns. There is a bass tourny out there every Thur night. This past week the fishing was bad. Less than 10lbs to win.

    hi n.buck.
I think alot of people use carolina rigs to fish deep weed edges all the way out to deeper water. have only been there once this year, but carolina rigged a 7 inch worm and boated a 5lber on a slow day. Jack.

Thanks for that info. Moving away from bass to eyes, what kind of set ups do you see producing? I’ve heard the summer fishing is pretty tough. I got my 27.5″ eye trolling a Rogue behind Reeds Island in October. That same day, I had a long discussion with a guy who lives on the lake and belongs to their bass club. He had some AMAZING stories on big eyes in the lake. In fact, he pulled one in about the same time dragging a jig that was pretty much the same size. He told me one time he was fishing a bass tourney and ended up with 37 eyes pounding the docks.

Needless to say, after that conversation and another one with a Gander employee who owns an aqua view, I know there are some slobs in the lake.

I spend quite a bit of time in Gander in Lakeville, and have fished with a few of them… all great guys, who seem to know thier stuff.

Today I broke down, I finally caved, I went out and bought myself an aquaview today, I can’t wait to get on the water and try it out, It seems were going to look at going out to prior today, hoping the water clairity is fair right now, I can’t wait to use this thing…. I’ll let you know if we do go, how it was out there

Are those bass tourneys held every Thur? Thinking of going out, and would like to avoid it.

Hit Prior on Sunday. 2 Pike (up to 26.5″), 2 small bass, numberous panfish, and a 14″ walleye. Pretty breezy out there today.
