Had a nice morning out there this AM. Find the weedline and troll perch colored raps, spinners, jig and firetiger rippleminnow worked really well for all the bass and northerns a guy would want. Average size of northerns seems to get better the last few years, probably 3-4# with occasional 7-8# mixed in. Bass size seems to be about the same, not much over 16″. Usually can get a couple walleyes but none this AM, got there too late about 630.
Water clarity is really good right now, get those fluorocarbon leaders out, could see bottom in 8′. Boat didn’t touch a lake last year, going to try to hit more local lakes this year, although anxious to hit the river.

Is that the lake I think is actually in Maple Grove? I’m wondering if you navigated the channel into Pike Lake if that’s the one I’m thinking of?

Plymouth/Maple Grove area. Im assuming you are thinking of the same one, I got the city wrong.
Nice water levels are up, usually that landing can get a little shallow some years. On my way in someone already launched their gorgeous MX1850.

Was it deep enough to navigate the channel and into Pike Lake? Never done it but a friend of mine said in the early spring it warms quickly in there… Had planned to try it this year but never got to it. Thx for the report..

Didn’t look at the channel, but saw a couple boats come in and out that way so probably doable in the right boat. Water temp was 73°.
