windy crappies

Had a good friend up this past weekend for a day of ice fishing, and even though we knew the weather would be rough we gave it a go anyway. The morning started out great and we had no trouble finding suspended pannies in 30fow. The crappies and gills were hungry from 10am-2pm. Small tungstens tipped with euro or waxies caught lots of fish, but plastics and small spoons took the larger fish. Most were your typical stunted metro pannies, but we were able to find a good number of 11″ crappies mixed in. As the afternoon went on and the wind picked up we decided to switch location and go for some walleye. I’m pretty sure we were the only pop up shelter on the lake in the 40mph winds , and we only brought a couple eaters topside before we decided to pack in before we joined dorothy over the rainbow. Was a challenging day but fun overall.

Looks like some good action. I love seeing my flasher exploded like that.
