Took the kids to a Metro lake close to the house yesterday to do some bluegill/crappie fishing. It was very hot, but good to get out. We targeted weed edges in 8-14 ft water. Luck was on our side and only had to fish 2 spots and found some concentrated schools. We tried both bobber/worms and jigging with plastics. Jigging was by FAR the best presentation. The fish were towards the bottom and hugging the weeds. In our 2nd spot it we were catching them as fast as you could get your jig to the bottom. I only used 1 color, but a 1/32 oz chart jig with a Bass Assassin 1.5 inch Tiny shad in Perch color dominated. Kept 20 gills ranging from 7.5 inches to just over 8 inches. The crappie were both 10 inches. It was a great day on the water with my kids.
