hit the lake in the west metro about 1pm and fished until 9pm. fishing was fast and ferious for perch all day anywhere near weed edges, but not what we were going4. after sunset we caught 4eyes between 16-18 and my buddy missed all4 of his bites…haha. fathead minnows mostly deadsticked on a gold jigging spoon was the ticket for me as i caught all the fish! we fished in 19ft. of water on a mid lake reef with a good weed line.ice was a good 8inches all the way out2 the reef. wish i could be back up there but i have2 work the rest of the week.

the key was we were catching perch all day long and i knew where the bottom transition was and where the weeds were…we tried the close deep water in the daytime but no luck. so we snuck back up2 19ft. and wham-o. clear water=NITE BITE haha or a deep water day bite if u can find it

If you were fishing where I think you were those wallys are tough to find during the day. It’s good to finally get into em after searching all day though!

X2. It is always that much sweeter to have hard work pay off. Ive been doing the same thing this year. I usually set a tip up shallow or on the inside weed line and jig the outside weed line or deeper water. I got to say though I’ve found walleyes in deep and shallow on the camera during the day and every time they are laying down belly to the bottom and inactive. I found three side by side laying on rocks that would not pay any attention at all to whatever I put down. Then as the sun hit the horizon they snapped out of it like clockwork. Clear water can be funny sometimes.
