De Montreville?

So the FW and I and the twins were talking about hitting local lakes more this year, we’re typically river people otherwise. Years back we hit lake Jane a few times, now I think it may have really been De Montreville as I rememeber the landing and the little channel between lakes. So speaking of the landing, how is it these days? OK for a 17ft roller? If I recall correctly, there was a huge wash out and a related sandbar last time I was there. Or was that Jane? Or both? Thinking about heading there this weekend maybe, I also racall it being a good large mouth lake too? Thanks, CZ.

    Hi Bob,

I was out on DeMontreville last Sunday morning. The lake is up about 4 feet since last fall. Really! The access has plenty of water in it now and the channel into Olson is easy to motor through as well. It’s back like it was a few years ago.

They sprayed the lake for weeds about two weeks ago like they do every year. The water clarity is surprisingly good but the weeds aren’t up like you’d expect, especially the coontail. The Bass were biting, particularly the smaller fish. I caught a couple of spawned out females that looked pretty rough….sunken bellies, scars, split fins. There were small sunfish every where.

    Good luck and have fun!

Yeah Pete, that one seems tough always. In fact, all of them seem tough this year! Wonder if the high water on the rivers is diverting folks to the local lakes?

Ignoring the tempt Mike, but funny you asked. After looking at map a while back, the wife and I figured out that when we said Jane, we really meant De Montreville. All the years we’ve been wrong. Now if you meant the chick back in highschool with that name, I’ll PM you on that.
