Got out this evening with my dad and a couple other guys. Plan was to go stalk some crappies and gills in the open water. Its funny going from a 16 inch rod to a 9 footer! First spot we picked up a few, second spot it was lights out! Fishing in 5 to 6 feet of water about 3 feet down. I was using a fatboy tipped with a gojo or a crappie minnow. Didn’t really seem to matter to what the fish preferred, however the nice fish and the bass enjoyed the gojos!
Key was to cast it up and reel it in and just make that Thill Stealth bobber wiggle back and forth and then as soon as you hit the break the float goes down and I reared back! Caught an easy 60 crappies in from 5 to 7 plus a dozen or so bass with those going up to three pounds.
Was a great evening and I hate to say it, but it did feel nice to cast!!
Here’s a few quick, cheap cell phone pictures. Didn’t bring the camera as I really didn’t plan to catch much!
