Been threatening to take the boat out on Nokomis for a couple years now, thinking this spring for crappies.

Has anybody found them in that smaller section of the lake just west of the Cedar bridge?
Seems like it’d be a good shallow spot for spring crappies???

The north end near the channel to Hiawatha is also a big flat shallow plane. I would start there. As far out as I can cast I doubt it’s any deeper than 6 ft, and that north side gets full sun all day.

Thanks, I see a lot of people fishing off the dock there.

Wasn’t much of anything for the opener yesterday, did see a few fish caught but nothing anyone would write about. Shore fishermen were able to stay out of the rain, and the guys in boats stayed close to the Cedar bridge for shelter. That is were I saw some guys pull in a Carp, and what looked like a bunch of small crappies or bullheads. We were fishing in the lagoon using fatheads and leeches, where we had our bobbers go down a few times before we found out a painted turtle was hanging out near by. All in all we can say we made it to another opener, and we have the rest of the summer to expand on it. It was nice to see the water level up to the wall edges, and spring water clarity made it more appealing. Good luck to those who venture out, I am sure we will meet later this summer.

A lot of small walleyes coming in under a slip bobber with a fathead. Been talk of a few nice ones but for the most part 8-10 inchers. I sat and watched a couple in a boat practice their hook set technigue, but nothing to show for it. Was out this morning and maybe again tonight before the rains come, it was nice to watch a bobber for a while. I am still waiting for next weekend when the real (Bass) opener is.
