Hit Wissota for a couple hours this morning. Mostly pretty slow. Went with the intention of bringing home my three little walleyes for dinner. Found some very small perch 3-6″ and an amazing 15 minutes of smallmouth fishing. Fishing one of the rock humps with a 1/16 oz. jig and a crawler chunk, landed 5 smallmouth (14-18″) in the first 6 casts. Partner was fishing the same spot with an 1/8 oz. jig and a slip bobber rig and never got bit. Must have been one of those spot on the spot occurances I’ve heard about , but don’t think I’ve experienced. All five fish seemed to come from the same spot. Cast past it and as it started coming up the hump, BAM. The I-Pilot worked perfect for holding us on top of the hump. Don’t you love it when a plan comes together? They turned off as fast as they turned on, and then it was time to go.
As a side note, the water is very high right now. I have a single counsel Lund and had to take the removable windshield off to get into the little lake and then we just made it. I doubt the full windshield boats will make it under the bridge with the current conditions.
This was one of the bigger ones.
