Hey, it only took you a few secs to recognize Sully, just tell him it is because he isn’t on the water enough anymore. Get that Fat Guy’s sticker on the side of your new boat!!!
Will probably see you out there. The limit is still at 2 walleye for the opener. If I recall in the past few years, the limit has went from 2 to 3 sometime after the opener. However, maybe it will stay at 2 this year.

April 28, 2010 at 8:21 pm #867612It was nice to see you. I wasn’t in my boat, so I wouldn’t expect you to recognize me.
Good luck on opener guys!
If you get bored you can come over and help me re-roof my house.

April 28, 2010 at 8:47 pm #867618I actually will be ordering a couple some time this year, then I will stick out like a sore thumb!
I called the DNR office last week to see if they were going to raise it back up to 3 again in June like in years past. They said they have not collected enough information to make a sound decision. The reason I asked them was the way it is worded this year, makes it seem like it is going to stay at two. Time will tell. You can still keep 3 on Holcombe.

Where are you reading this? I don’t think that is a very good idea. I would have to check for sure but I beleve that you can go below the Chippewa dam to catch a larger limit.
Here is the rule:
P Chippewa River, Cornell Flowage, Old Abe Lake, Lake Wissota, and Chippewa
Falls Flowage (includes tributaries of the river from their mouths upstream to the
first dam or lake): There is no minimum length limit on walleye, but walleye from
14″ through 18″ may not be kept, and only one fish over 18″ is allowed. Motor trolling
is permitted, but only up to the first roadbridge or railroad bridge on all tributary
streams.April 29, 2010 at 4:25 am #867742Yep, the River up to the Jim Falls Dam is still considered to be part of Wissota, as is the Yellow River up to the Cadott Dam in which the limit would be 2.
If you want a meal just go up to Chetek and grab some bluegills, they are hitting very well up there right now
bigpikePosts: 6259April 29, 2010 at 5:04 am #867746I could be wrong (I am not a big Wissota guy) but from the bridge by the golf course to the dam is considered the river and has the normal 5 fish limit the rest of the Chippewa river entertains. The lake is considered the other side of the bridge were all the sail boats are moored and the two fish limit is there. That is the way it was but it could of been changed, like I said I am not a big fan of Wissota so I don’t keep up with the current regs….
April 29, 2010 at 3:05 pm #867837Lake Wissota is considered as all the way to the Jim Falls dam. There is not a different limit.

Now that that is cleared up how about the motor trolling,is the rule saying there is no motor trolling above the edge bridge into the chippewa?
April 29, 2010 at 10:48 pm #867994I have always interpreted this as you may not troll UNDER the bridge, as it does say motor trolling is allowed in the Chippewa. I have asked about this rule before, and never got a real straight answer from the warden. I have not talked to Cody about this one yet.
FishingFoolPosts: 54April 29, 2010 at 11:38 pm #868001I would think you can troll the Chippewa river, you are limited how far in the tributaries.

Motor trolling is permitted on Wissota and the Chippewa river. That would take you all the way up to (and beyond) the Jim Falls dam. Any tributary streams/creeks (like Oneil creek, etc) can only be trolled up until the first bridge. The Chippewa river is obviously not a tributary to itself, and trolling is allowed on the river as stated above.
Bridge regulations apply to smaller tributaries — The whole of the Chippewa River is already included in the “trolling allowed” regulations. Troll to you heart’s content on Wissota / Chippewa river.
whittsendPosts: 2389April 30, 2010 at 2:40 pm #868196BTW, guys — Good luck and be safe out there this weekend!!
I’ll be down in cranberry country (Tomah area) for our annual “fish camp” for part of this weekend. Should be fun to get the kids on loads of willing panfish. Hopefully the weather will be tolerable for us all this weekend.
Good luck!!!
I’m hoping to get out there next Tuesday – If you see a blue/grey Lund, give a wave!
