I had a slow start to the day today but managed to get out on the water at about 10:00 am. First goal in mind was to find the Hot Crappie action. We focused our fishing in the Yellow River not far up stream from the State Park. In the past week we have been locating fish in the deeper water and they seem to be moving shallower every day. We set slips up one foot from bottom in about 12fow tipped with a small bright colored jig and minnow. Action was hot right away and continued until about 1:00 pm. As the sun got higher in the sky these fish moved right up in to the shallow water. The day started with the Lowrance peppered with fish, and ended with less then a few to be found. It looks like the shallow bite is on. We did not boat a crappie today under 10 inches most of which were 11-12 Water temps ranged from 59-60 in most of the Yellow. When prepping a few keepers for the fryer I was surprised to see very little spawn in the few females I did keep. I am not sure if they dropped already or just had an off year
