Anybody that has to follow another boater around to find fish and spots is nothing but a desperate case of unethical behavior and as they say—“true colors”.

Long as I just opened a can of worms there-what is the crap with all the so called “teams” or guys working together in the tourney series (FLW, AIM,other tourneys, ect.) when it is supposedly an individual sport? Tailpiping, unethical team tactics, following guys around–guess anything is ok when a buck is on the line.
Is cheating, or unethical behavior ok???? Guess unethical behavior is just “legal cheating”, but the winning is all the same.
There are those in school who did the homework and those in school who copied the homework—which group do you think would be more likely to compromise their ethics at test time???
To quote my grandma, “If you are going to cheat, just make sure to cheat honestly”.

Hope no one follows you around Sully and good luck.

I know that Sully has been followed closely by at least one other boat over the past several days…someone who drifts through IDO from time to time.

Yesterday, I had a Ranger with IL tags sitting about 100 yards off my stern, following my trolling pass turn for turn. I hope he goes back there on game day….nothing like fishing in 60 fow.

On Sunday, I am told than a prominent FLW boater hopped in a local’s pontoon boat, and told that pontoon boat to find me. Apparently they did so, in two different spots. Crazy stuff!

There’s gotta be better ways to pre-fish than following other anglers around, trying to figure out their program.

If they do follow you around just remember the saying, “Imitation is the highest form of flattery”. Good luck and go get’em boys. That was a nice article.

Thanks for all the well wishes. Jason and I will need it tomorrow.

Tim, I like your post because it was exactly the mantra I was repeating in my head. I had another brushing with this fellow this morning. This time close enough for him to see my presentation in more detail than I prefer.

That’s funny, I know of an older local from that area that’s been really sick of a certain guide on that body of water following him around and looking in his boat at the ramps all the time. This is not limited to FLW guys, it happens locally too. I’m not going to name names, because it’s not my place, but this is nothing new.

Fish your fish, your presentations, and during your time frames. It sucks, but it happens at every event I’ve ever fished, and I’ve adjusted my pre-fishing routines to account for it. It’s not right, but anybody with a boat and an entry fee can fish most events (I understand that you needed to qualify for this event). I like to use it as motiviation.

It’s great catching fish right in front of tailpipers watching them try to duplicate what I’m doing. I’m not going to back off my game plan because somebody else doesn’t have one.

Good luck to Dan McGuire and Luke Kersten.

Sully just remember the little things and keep a positive focus and you will do great. These are the things you can control, let the rest play out as it may but most important don’t forget to have fun. Ethics sometimes isn’t the highest on everyone’s priority list and this is demonstrated by his behavior. He might think he is picking up the tips and tricks but most likely will not know the little things or the spot on spot. Keep positive as you and Halfen have made IDO proud just by earning a spot in this tourney and representing sportsman in such a professional manner.

Good luck boys, I don’t get the whole tournament thing but I wish you guys the best of luck. Only so many fishable acres on Wissota, hope everyone can find some room to fish without squeezing others.
