This is the worst year I have ever seen for algae on Wissota! With the high blue skies & no rain its getting uglier daily. Water temps are near the highest I have seen all year! 82+ deg. & that wasnt in the shallow backwater bays.I didnt even want to go there!Blue green with white slime ribbons = toxic crap. This has made fishing areas for me considerably different from prior years at this time.It is hard to put a solid program together to catch decent fish(overs) with this funk we are in.All I can say is pray for rain, wind, overcast skies & cooler weather!I have squeezed a couple overs out the last 2 days out,but for 4-6 hours fishing! With traffic getting heavier daily I try to avoid others on the lake. On another note, hopefully to make a couple homeboys feel better,no I am not networking or will I be guiding the next couple weeks on the homepond! Would I give a couple hour boat ride to the right couple guys? If the price was right. JK There is numerous methods to catch fish on Wissota & all I can say would be, fish your strong points or most confident areas or techniques. Those who know me,have a good idea of what I might be doing. Best of luck fishing all! WHITE TIP

Thanks for the algae update Brian.

On another note, please be sure that 2Ks gets in touch with you about guiding this year’s winner of the Rod and Gun club raffle. I’m happy to share the burden of supporting our local conservation organization with another Wissota guide.

I was on Wissota Saturday and got a visit from the warden. He was patrolling and checking licenses. I asked him about the bloom and he agreed it was about as bad as he had seen it. I asked about the blue stuff and he said it was indeed toxic. If it gets in the eyes of your kids or pets it can cause blindness. I was surprised to see folks out tubing and sking. I sure would not want to be in that water.
