So for the last two weeks, being out three times, once with a fishing buddy, once with the 4 yr old, and once with my neighbor (21 times older than my 4 yr old). We had consistently enjoyed a good crappie bite. Almost everytime we were able to find fish mixed from 10ft-25ft, all on timber. And a couple of hours of non-stop fantastic fishing.

So last night, got a chance for a couple hours by myself to try some new and old locations. OH BOY, I have to say I was humbled. Those fish, just when you feel you have things figured out, you miss 6 days of fishing and they leave you confused. Anyway, did still have a little fun last night.

All it took was an innocent pitch too some just submerged timber. A slight twitch on flu-flu, tap, oh I have finally found some crappie, that’s the thought. Then the hook set, I am going to get this, woooopie teee dooo, the ultra-light, she bends!!! Kurr-splash and flash, green bass. It is just my 5ft ultra-light and 3lb mono versus this fish and a whole bunch of timber at her disposal. Back and forth, back and forth, how am I not totally snarled in the timber yet. Finally after a minute or so, I am able to sneak her nose out of the timber and make the game at least a lil’ fair. Another minute or so of coaxing her close to boat, a quick/lucky swoop of the net, works!! No crappie, but still some fun!! Sorry for the not so good pics with the cell phone, it’s all I had and besides, what is fishing without trying to drown a cell phone.

Ugliest looking crappie I’ve ever seen.

    Nice largie.

I don’t catch many from Wissota, but the ones I’ve caught and seen tend to be nicer ones. Must be from the little lake.

Right around 17 3/4. Jason, I did get a funny look when I showed up at the taxidermist after telling him I had a 17 3/4 crappie.

    No really, CPR…

Nice greenback! There are plenty of them in Wissota, but yeah, mainly in the little lake. We get quite a few on Power Worms in the summer.
