Mike, is this the textured bottom we were chatting about via PM?

That looks similar, but not necessarily the same.. Mine seemed more more irregular, like a sandstone face swept clean and exposed vs actual sand piles. Sort of hard to explain. I’ll have to get a screenshot next trip of that area that I was in and post it here. Could be the same thing, but maybe I had been playing with my settings so it looked goofy.. Not sure. Did you get that image from the section that we were talking about?

Very cool image, though. Definately looks like sand ripples. Looks like you “captured” a few fish there, too. One in the vertical center, and one way up to the top of ths screen. Walleyes roaming the sand??

    Much appreciated

Yep, this is from that stretch I mentioned.

My guess is that those are indeed walleyes….I catch a bunch of them in this area early season, pulling cranks on lead.

Jason – in this image, would you say that the sand ripples start or become more prominant as you get further from the boat, or is it more of an illusion because of how the SI reads the bottom?
It seems to me that the right side (closest to the boat) looks much smoother, but I’m not sure how that translates in this instance…

    ??

In other words… The bottom return closest to the boat seems very flat… but this could mean one of two things.. 1) it is actually flatter than the sand ripples you see further from the boat or 2) it is of similar contour, but because the sonar is reading at a much more downward angle closer to the boat, it isn’t really picking up the shadows as nicely, and isn’t making the ripples stand out quite as much.

Makes sense, I pulled my (only) walleye last trip just north of that area on core/SR
