So you know, Saturday was an absolutely awesome day to go ice fishing. After some lobbying, I convinced my 3-year old partner to tag along. This type of day is perfect for him. So we packed his backpack (CARs fishing pole, large airplane, lots of little trucks, candy bars, juice and fruit snacks) and ready, set, go.
We set up camp in 30 FOW and were able to mark some fish, on that fish light flashing game (as the partner would say). Now, we weren’t really out for serious fishing but we had to try to catch a few even if by accident. You know, adds to the excitement. I tell you what, I think we had a great time! Sledding, pulling around truck and planes in the sled, filling the holes in with chunks of ice, collecting ice chunks, tormenting minnows, eating candy bars with dirty hands, racing trucks on the mounds of snow, and heck even catching a few fish which my partner even got a chance to help land one.
We even got to meet another young man. This little guy was so funny, Dad or Grandpa and this little guy had landed what was a nice walleye. The little guy must have held/cradled this beauty for close to 2 hours going back and forth between their two shacks, it was great!
So after a great 3 hours we packed up, 7 crappie, 1 walleye, wet gloves, snotty nose, wet pants, and one tired boy. It may be extra work to take the little people fishing but it is so worth it and besides you never know what they will do to make you laugh or say wow!!!!
