Wow, I had heard reports and really tough fishing the last couple of weeks so wasn’t sure what to expect. Got out fairly early around 7:30am-8:00am. From 7:30am to 11am or so, it definitely seemed like the reports were true. Not a fish. I was trying some usual fall locations and having no luck. So I started thinking of some other deeper water structure I had in the back of mind from earlier trips this year. So I moved onto these spots and finally started catching fish. Deep water 25-35 feet next to shallow structure, neck downs or even cribs seem to hold some fish. Not a bunch at each location so I had to move around a lot! This seemed to work, ended up with 22″, 2-17″, 1-16″,1-15″,2-13″ and around 10 of the 10″ flavor. This was all from 11am to 1pm.

Surface temps were around 48-49 on the yellow river and main lake. Small lake was more up around 50.

Special thanks to the Stratus that came and parked right on the break I was casting to, 15-20 ft away. I practice courtesy, just would expect some in turn. It is a large lake and I know that no part of it is mine, I generally just don’t see someone fishing one location and come in and push them out.

    Good luck to all,

    -Tim
