This weekend marked my last trip on the backyard gem for the year, as I make the transiton to my winter home of Everts Resort and Pool 4. As I made the trip around our 6000 acres, warm memories of the past season abounded, and I hope you will humor me as I share them with you. I invite you to add your own memories and pics after mine. Thanks!

The ice went off Wissota only days before the WI opener. We rarely have the opportunity to target eyes so close to the spawn on inland waters, and many guys were able to cash in (big time) on eyes as they transitioned back from the tribs into the main lake. I spent all of my May time in south-facing bays and in the tributary arms, targeting warming waters and feeding fish. Nice mixed bags of eyes, crappies, pre-spawn smallies, pike, cats, and ‘skis were caught with regularity. Pitching light jigs tipped with minnows, leeches, or plastics is my preferred method when the water is cold and the season young.
