Quick trip on the backyard gem tonight with bigpike and Mrs. bigpike, doing a bit of fishing and test driving a Skeeter 1790-T from Skeeter Boat Center.
Water temps high up the Chip were 73….warmer towards the lake. The same successful recipe that I’ve been talking about since early August remains in play in the Chippewa River above the lake: jigs and crawler halves when the river is running, cranks when the river is not.
We only spent a couple of hours on the water, but were able to put 6 or 7 walleyes and a pair of smallies in the boat. Not bad considering our limited time and the big weather change yesterday. The biggest walleye flirted with 18″ and was a very well fed fish. In fact, several of our fish were looking like they had one too many servings at the dinner table lately. Could the fall feed be upon us?
