I was joined by Dave Markquart from Eau Claire’s Skeeter Boat Center today for a Wissota mult-species adventure. Dave is pictured here with his big smallie of the day, pushing just past 17″ on the tape.
We popped fish on jigs and on cranks/leadcore, with jigs accounting for ~ 80% of the day’s catch. We ended the trip with 18 walleyes (all but two in the slot), a similar number of smallies, a couple of pike and a 6 lb channel, all still swimming in Wissota’s stained waters.
The water is indeed warming up….temps pushing 78 up in the river when we called it a day…but there is still plenty of fishable water and willing biters to work with. Hope to see you out there soon!
