Hey all.
Friday after work I took the new Lund out to Wissota just to get more break-in hours on the Optimax. While heading to the west shore of the river to scout for fish, I came across some piles in 20′ so I threw out a marker to probe them and mark on GPS. There turned out to be two piles down there and I only caught 3 crappie in a half-hour of probing. But the sizes were 10″, 12″, and 13″. I didn’t have a camera or photographer so I didn’t get pics. And I released all three.
Today I took the wife out for Mother’s Day (she loves fishing!) and we looked
for places out of the wind. We had plenty of action and I caught a 13.5″ crappie – a new personal best. In all I caught
12 crappie (only kept 5 for dinner)
3 walleye (biggest was 16″, kept a 13 3/4″ for dinner)
2 bluegill
2 rock bass
Kathy caught
1 walleye
1 rock bass
1 bluegill
I’m attaching a pic of my big one.
Water temps are about 58, but shallow bays are in the 60’s. The big females are moving into the staging areas and bluegill are just starting to show up.
Shouldn’t be long before they hit the shallows.
