I’m not sure if this has already been brought up or not, but when i was at wissota yesterday i noticed that there are numerous NO PARKING signs posted at and around the Yellow River landing making it impossible to park anywhere. I don’t exactly have the biggest motor on my boat making the trip from The View landing to the Yellow River a bit of a hassle and also time consuming. Any info to why they have done this would be greatly appreciated. thx

Why No Parking at the Yellow River Landing?

Are you refering to the public launch above the state park. If so I would assume it is because there is not hardly any room for trucks and trailers there to start with, and for all I know it might not be in the best shape any more. If that is the one your talking about I will look into. Also Jason might know, im sure he will pop in soon.

What’s wrong with using the State Park ramp? It’s right there and has tons of parking. What does it cost to get in for the day? $5 for the day? $25 for the year? Think about how much you spent on bait and gas and refreshments…I bet it was a lot more than $5.
June 11, 2007 at 12:28 pm #579486I’ve been using the state park ramp exclusively this year…it’s nice and like Jason said…lots of parking. Paying the $5 or $25 is definately worth the money and saves on gas if you fish that area.

jhalfenPosts: 4179June 11, 2007 at 1:28 pm #579511I like that landing a lot too….parking can be an issue, and there is limited space for getting your boat ready, loading, etc. One person with poor launch etiquette can foul up the works pretty quickly there.
Having said that…it’s a great place to launch during the week!
June 18, 2007 at 8:21 pm #581722Ben, this is disappointing to me as well.
That was my primary landing because it’s closest to where I live and it’s free. Nothing wrong with free, right?
I thought they may have just put signs on the street and not the dedicated parking area. You weren’t kidding when you said they put up some signs. There is absolutely no parking at this landing. You can still launch your boat and access the lake, but there is no parking.
I had heard some complaints about too many trailers in the parking area and they would block passage. Also, I imagine some of the residents in the area didn’t like trucks and trailers being parked on their yards.
My hunch is a few people have ruined it for the rest of us.

June 19, 2007 at 6:21 pm #582169i’m happy to see that i’m not the only disappointed person, but i have also learned to let things go when i know there is nothing i can do to change them. so i was wondering if someone could possibly give me directions to the state park launch and the other launch mentioned in one of the previous posts. i tried to use map quest, but came up shorthanded. thx again for all the concern. hope to see you all out there soon. ben

kevinJune 29, 2007 at 10:08 pm #585716This past week I went by this landing and saw two truck and trailer combos parked right in front of the no parking signs. It will be interesting to see if they will enforce the new restriction.

July 2, 2007 at 2:28 am #586035i’m also waiting to see if it will be enforced or not. i have a feeling it won’t be unless they start to get more complaints. still haven’t made my way over to the course landing or the park landing, but hope to soon. cya on the water.
