Here’s a quick update from today. I plan to post a full report tomorrow night.
My guests and I worked hard today to deal with the major change in the weather during the past 24h. We ended up with 9 eyes and 3 pike during a relatively short afternoon trip. Of the 9 eyes, 6 were slot fish. Our big fish were a 17.5″ eye and a 28″ gator.
We caught fish on a variety of techniques, including pulling cranks on leadcore, pitching jig/minnows, and pulling spinners on bottom bouncers. We had decent action in the 12-14′ range until the wind turned out of the north and picked up speed….that pretty much killed all of the programs we had working.
Happily, tomorrow’s another day! We’ll be out covering water, looking for those fish that are ready to shake off the cold front blues.
