Had a real good day on Wissota, the Yellow is were I started off without good results, the river area is dead water, very little flow for this time of year. Moved into moonbay and did quite well for keeper gils, crappies and perch in the shallows next to wood. After limiting out on pans I moved into the Chip river and trolled the shoreline in 8-20 fow with shadraps and caught two 28″ pike, a 18″ and 15″ walleye a 15″ smally and some smaller game fish. All the game fish were realesed. The water temp was 62-66 degrees. Much better results than the debacle that is opening day….

Almost made it out there yesterday but ran out of daylight! Thanks for the update though! Maybe sometime this week I’ll get out there and give it a try!

    Bill, thanks for the report!

I have a follow up question, but will start a new thread to pose it.

Thanks for the update Bill, and good to see that you had good results. I hope I can get out there soon and enjoy some good fishing. Have not been back since opener. Up to Northern MN this weekend to try Winni or URL, should be fun. Then hopefully back to ‘Sota for some fishing next week. What was your speed trolling?

1.6-1.8 mph. I only trolled for a couple hours so they were popping pretty good. I want to get out and cast the shallow flats for early morning walleye before I try the troll bite again tommorrow, good luck this weekend!
