I guess I’m confused on the whole opener thing….you guys don’t fish all year long???? Just kidding…I work that weekend and will be planning the opener in Canada a few weeks away.
jhalfenPosts: 4179February 7, 2007 at 9:43 pm #534091I’ll try to join you guys if I can. I have a guide trip scheduled for opener, but if things are slow over the lunch hour maybe we’ll track you guys down. If everybody has a radio, we’ll have to pick a “team IDA” channel.
Don HansonPosts: 2073February 7, 2007 at 11:18 pm #534121I may have to come over just to keep an eye on this crew!
Jason, what is your forcast for the opener?jhalfenPosts: 4179February 8, 2007 at 12:41 am #534153My early season routine is to pitch bait (mainly minnows, but maybe a leech or two depending on the water temps) to shallow shorelines or to shallow sand/rock features in the rivers. We usually manage real nice mixed bags of eyes and crappies doing this, with a healthy dose of smallies in certain places. Opener until June 15 is also the time that we connect with the majority of our accidental muskies for the year, hooked on light tackle while walleye or crappie hunting.
bigpikePosts: 6259February 8, 2007 at 2:53 am #534219Actually I have off that weekend, so I would certainly be interested in a local get together, have grill will travel or meet at a predetermined establishment….
February 8, 2007 at 3:21 am #534231pretty good response for this in one day (a cold February day at that!). I’ll try to keep this at the top and see how many more people would be interested… Pencil it in!
February 27, 2007 at 1:58 am #541985TTT…. OK, so far we have myself (and company), Kizew, Dartman, Cougar (if he can get away two weekends in a row ), Don, and BigPike (and Jason might fall in with his customers). I know another group of guys that live out there that might be interested in joining… Anyone out there willing to contact Mallards to line up a spot for shorelunch and few cold ones?
I don’t mind coordinating the logistics – run this either as a ‘potluck’ or have everyone pitch in some $$ ahead of time and I’ll arrange the details. Thoughts?
bigpikePosts: 6259February 28, 2007 at 1:17 pm #542631If Mallards has a landing I will bring my webber and a bunch of burgers and brats, I am sure they wont mind us cooking out at there resort and bringing in a bunch of guys to there establishment, but I can call them and find out for sure! High noon for lunch?
March 1, 2007 at 1:17 am #543063Too far for me, but, bigpike can cook a mean burger on the grill so I would take him up on that offer
March 1, 2007 at 3:24 pm #543281Hello everyone
I am just 5 mi from mallard they have a landing and I am shur that they would not mind you people stopping by for lunch the only problem is I don’t think they open till memorial day but I would think you could use the area as long as it was kept cleen.

You bet! Looks like we’ll have a pretty good turnout and considering it’s already April, probably time to put plan to paper. Stay tuned….

April 7, 2007 at 2:56 am #558257When is the opener? I am on the river so I haven’t ever paid attention to the date Might be a good time to do some scouting since we have a club tourney up there in September

Don HansonPosts: 2073April 11, 2007 at 8:48 pm #559764Interesting, I was talking to a couple of guys who fish Wissota quite often. I asked them their best tactic to put fish in the boat. Their reply- look for the FishHawk with the 140 Johnson and follow him around! Sorry Jason!
jhalfenPosts: 4179April 11, 2007 at 11:13 pm #559828Good one Don. Everybody knows that I just bobber fish off the docks.
