IDA GTG on WI inland opener?

    anyone interested in a GTG at Wissota on opener? Maybe a BBQ/Shorelunch at the park or at Mallards? Post if you’re interested…

    I guess I’m confused on the whole opener thing….you guys don’t fish all year long???? Just kidding…I work that weekend and will be planning the opener in Canada a few weeks away.

    I’ll try to join you guys if I can. I have a guide trip scheduled for opener, but if things are slow over the lunch hour maybe we’ll track you guys down. If everybody has a radio, we’ll have to pick a “team IDA” channel.

    My early season routine is to pitch bait (mainly minnows, but maybe a leech or two depending on the water temps) to shallow shorelines or to shallow sand/rock features in the rivers. We usually manage real nice mixed bags of eyes and crappies doing this, with a healthy dose of smallies in certain places. Opener until June 15 is also the time that we connect with the majority of our accidental muskies for the year, hooked on light tackle while walleye or crappie hunting.

    Actually I have off that weekend, so I would certainly be interested in a local get together, have grill will travel or meet at a predetermined establishment….

    pretty good response for this in one day (a cold February day at that!). I’ll try to keep this at the top and see how many more people would be interested… Pencil it in!

    TTT…. OK, so far we have myself (and company), Kizew, Dartman, Cougar (if he can get away two weekends in a row ), Don, and BigPike (and Jason might fall in with his customers). I know another group of guys that live out there that might be interested in joining… Anyone out there willing to contact Mallards to line up a spot for shorelunch and few cold ones?

    I don’t mind coordinating the logistics – run this either as a ‘potluck’ or have everyone pitch in some $$ ahead of time and I’ll arrange the details. Thoughts?

    If Mallards has a landing I will bring my webber and a bunch of burgers and brats, I am sure they wont mind us cooking out at there resort and bringing in a bunch of guys to there establishment, but I can call them and find out for sure! High noon for lunch?

    Hello everyone

    I am just 5 mi from mallard they have a landing and I am shur that they would not mind you people stopping by for lunch the only problem is I don’t think they open till memorial day but I would think you could use the area as long as it was kept cleen.

    When is the opener? I am on the river so I haven’t ever paid attention to the date Might be a good time to do some scouting since we have a club tourney up there in September

    Interesting, I was talking to a couple of guys who fish Wissota quite often. I asked them their best tactic to put fish in the boat. Their reply- look for the FishHawk with the 140 Johnson and follow him around! Sorry Jason!

    Opener is getting close!!! Time to put plans to paper. Please send a PM to me if you’re planning on attending this GTG so I can get a close headcount. Also, looking for volunteers to help with the planning and implementation….
