I spent the day on Wissota – put in at 7:30 and loaded at 4:30. It took me a solid 3 hours to put together a couple patterns. Without question, sheer numbers came from the Yellow. Quality was from the lake and the Chippewa. The magic depth today was 18′ to 22′ and light line drop shotting was the technique. The biggest issue of the day was the amount of walleye that decided they liked a 4″ Kinami cut tail worm – incredible.
The biggest smallmouth of the day (pictured) was 17 1/2″ but what a football!!! It is without question the heaviest short smallmouth I ever caught. The X-tool said 4.73 lbs and I was in the middle of a school of those buggers. Check out the dark color – gotta love those Wissota smallies!!
