Bowhuntr24 and I hit the water last night to satisfy our hunger pangs for crappies.
We focused our search on wood in protected areas and came up empty when examining the “usual suspects”.
We were one spot away from having a pizza pie at The View when we found a small pod of crappies on the big lake.
The water was 54 degrees. The bite got better as dark approached and they also seemed to move up more shallow as the night went on. Our last casts were into a few feet of water at the end of the night.
We were putting crappie minnows on plain hooks under a float. We have played with colored hooks with no real pattern developing.
As opener approaches go after the mixed bag.
Good luck to everyone hitting the water this weekend.
