Enjoyed a perfect early summer afternoon and evening on Wissota. The water has warmed into the low 70s in all the locations I fished (Moon bay, main lake, up the Chip). We found walleyes all over, happily they bit well all day. Must have landed 30 between 2 of us. Many were the standard Wissota 10-13″ cigars but also managed a few in the slot. All fish on 1/8 oz green jig/minnow; couldn’t catch a cold with crawlers. The most consistent area was along the west shore of the chip, from O’Neil creek downriver. Fish were both deep and shallow. We caught and released a thick 36″ musky that was sporting some major wounds, presumably from spawning. The big sand flat just south of the yellow river inlet heated up closer to dusk, fish moved up on top and were hammering jigs that were snap-trolled between 9 and 14′. Also had some success along the north shore of Moon bay, one big bay upriver of the state park landing. Find the cribs and you’ll find the fish. Tight lines everyone!
