Let me premise this question with the fact thatI have never been on Lake Wissota. I am wondering if it is difficult to navigate north of Elks Country Club? Is it possible to run all the way to Old Abe Lake?

Thanks for any insight that you guys can provide!

The golf club is no longer called the Elks Club, it is called Wissota Golf now. Taking the Chippewa River North out of Wissota, you’ll have no trouble navigating until you get just below the Jim Falls Hydro Dam. Old Abe Flowage is the area of the Chippewa River above the Jim Falls Hydro Dam. The South end of Old Abe is a bit tricky , but “stick to the middle channel”, and you should be alright. P.S. Have not heard much about fishing being any good lately though.

Does it get a really bad algae bloom?

It does from time to time get a heavy bloom in areas, but I haven’t been on it recently, so I couldn’t say for sure what it looks like now.
