Does any one here ever visit the dells in the winter? We always go over the 4th of July. So I understand that itll only be indoors.
Is it still fun and worth it. Thinking about taking the lady and my son out next weekend just for a weekend escape.
Any cheaper during winter or are there any deals going on.
Just looking for info and or what places are better and for better deals right now.
    Thanks

Heck, when I would travel for business in the area, this was the only time of year that I could afford to stay in town, usually at the Hilton Garden Inn. I’m sure you’re looking for waterpark/resort info, can’t help with that, but plan on a meal at the Rivers Edge saloon.

We are heading down the 27th. Just staying one night but it gives the kids 2 days in the water park. Not sure if cheaper but a quick warm getaway even if for only 1 night.

That’s kind of the ballpark I’m looking in. Where are you staying. Was there any good deals?

When the kids were young we’d go with another family over presidents weekend to The Wilderness which at the time had 3 indoor parks. We’d rent a 4 bedroom condo and a shuttle would pick up and drop off to the different parks.

We always had a good time and cherish the memories.

Not sure what we paid at the time.

We are going to Kalahari. I don’t recall how much it was. I think it is hard to find a good deal unless you go during the middle of the week. The price wasn’t bad and the kids will have fun, cheaper than me trying to heat our pool the end of January.

fishing or touristy stuff? Waterparks – if you have any teachers in your family, have them check on deals. Some places do good discounts for school district employees. We did that almost 20 years ago with the kids. Haven’t looked into that since.
As for fishing, if its not locked up with ice, you can have some good days up there in winter

Wilderness is probably one of the best winter options. Four different waterparks plus an arcade and other non-water related things to do. They have definitely capatilized on full calendar year.

Looking to go get a break from my ice time and take the family to go hit some water slides. But dang I’m looking at stays still in the 600 range for 2 nights. Seems steep for winter time.
Guess I’ll stay on the ice

We’ve gone to the Wilderness for a spring break with the kids. The kids had a good time, there’s a lot to do for them.

Bearcat, I’m with you. To be honest I found it expensive for what you actually get. In general, I’d say the accommodation in the hotel area is like a Holiday Inn Express or Country Inn. So OK, but not great. Food, well, it was just OK, nothing special or anything I’d write home about. When all was said and done, we could have flown somewhere a lot warmer and with better accomodation for not much more.

The water was a bit too cold in some of the parks for my kids. We also had bad luck at the wave pool, it kept getting shut down which happend twice for multi-hours at a time.

Arrowwood Waterpark in Alexandria, I’ve been there and it is sweet. I’ve also been to Great Wolf Lodge in the Dells and that place was awesome too, but no fishing out the front door.

As Werm said, the Arrowwood has a pretty cool waterpark. You can sleep on the lake in your fish house if you have one. There’s good fishing right in front of the resort. Or stay in the resort and fish and swim as needed. Pretty cool place to kill a couple birds with one stone. Good luck.

Went to the dells last winter to some park called Atlantis or something like that. It was what i imagine a fema camp with a water slid. Couldn’t pay me to go back there again, even the gf hated it. Bad food, nasty bathrooms old outdated rooms with broken locks. Never again!

We rented basically a townhouse on the lake at the wilderness for 5 days over the 4th of July. I thought o would hate it. Surprise I loved it. Wake up drink beer cook breakfast, shots, go to water park and have a blast. But it was me and brother in law, lady friend and her sister and the kids. We all had a blast. I was worried about winter time being stuck inside. But I’ll probably wait till July again
