I am planning on heading for my first trip to fish the dells this weekend. Im in Eau Claire and my brother is in Madison and it looks like a good place to meet. Where is a good place to launch, get minnows and good advice. And would anyone have some good spots to try. Im thinking up by the damn. Ive seen boats there in the spring when we have driven by in the past. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Rivers Edge Resort is the only decent boat landing.

    Rivers Edge

They will have bait and the latest info on the river there as well.

Tell em Boog sent you there!

The dam is a good area and so is are any of the corners in the river. If the water is still high, fish the current seams and back eddies.

Jigs tipped with Moxi’s have been working very well.

Hit the Dells today with fellow IDOer Randy W.and another buddy. Pretty slow would be an understatement. we only managed to boat 6 eyes/sauger with 1 or 2 legals (depending on who you ask) plus a 26.5 inch pike. Water was high but manageable. We pitched several back eddy areas out of the main current, vertical jigged some strethes where the current was slower, and did some dragging. water temps started out at 37.5, but dropped to 36 by the time we left at 4 pm. Saw one group with 7 legals in a pail….anchored and using wolf-river rig with shiners. Great day to be out though, sharing food, smack talk, and a few laughs with good friends.
