Well I finally got my boat on the water for the test run before the mighty Miss this week. After Easter dinner, I got Dodge Boy in the truck and headed south to Tomahawk to fish Mohawksin, an impoundment on the Wisconsin.
We started where the Tomahawk River flows into the lake. Nothing happening there and talked to a fellow who had been fishing by the trestle. He told us that water temps had fallen to 35.5*, which was what my graph was indicating to me. He also stated that the water temp had been up to 44* last week.
We started by dragging ringworms and paddletails in the channel depths. We only had a couple of hours to fish, so we hit three different deep channel spots that seemed to be holding fish, but perhaps without meat they just weren’t really interested.
With an hour left we set up on a spot and trolled shadraps in the 9′-12′ depths to see if there was anything going with that bite. Actually got a solid fish on, but it came unbuttoned half way to the boat. Nothing else over the next pass, so we headed in.
Boats ready, now hopefully the weather won’t be too bad down there. It seems like everytime I head to the river the bad weather just comes right on with.
