Wisconsin River Walleyes

Fished Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning on the Wisconsin River at one of the railroad bridges. On Saturday the smallies were hitting as well as the walleyes. I caught most of my fish on a Bomber Model A in Tennessee Shad color. The fish were holding above the bridge in about 4 feet of water. The fish ranged is size from 15 to 18 inches. Finally I left because the infamous WI River Mosquitos bit faster than the walleyes.

Sunday morning returned to the spot with repellant. The walleyes responded again, this time the bigger fish cooperated with 5 walleyes ranging from 15 to 25 inches. All the fish caught came on shad colored Bombers and Wally Divers. Both days I tried alot of plastics with no success. The fish seemed to just want cranks.

Here’s a photo of the Wisconsin River. I gave it a try while my wife and I was road tripping up north. It sure looks good but we only caught gills and perch (small ones). We did leave the area a lot cleaner than we arrived. Picked up a full bag of trash from this nice area. Please everyone remember to carry out what you bring in. Thanks Steve

Here’s another shot of the dam that we were fishing under. It is a nice spot to fish and I saw a very large northern jumping like he was a salmon trying to get up the white water. It was strange looking. Steve

Leinieman: You’re a good man for picking up the trash . If everyone did that this world would be a much better place .

We have a few of those green or black garbage bags stored in the truck always. I try an take 15 minutes to pick up an area. Your would really be suprised at how much stuff a person can pick up in that amount of time. After that I try another cast an sit back and look over the area and think ” thats better ” .
The world would be a cleaner place for sure if everyone did this. I was supprised at how much line we pick up. Steve
