As always, my open water season starts with a pair of waders.
Basic, simple night fishing involving a single rod, a handful of stick baits and another handful of plastics. I did not get out night fishing as often as I would have liked and the big walleyes I was actually targeting never did show up but there were some successful trips just the same.

All these prespawn fish were caught on plastics while fishing out of my boat on the stretch of the Wisconsin river below the dells dam. B’Fish’N Tackle plastics always seem to play a heavy role when fishing this stretch of the river.

As always, a few other species tend to show up while we fish for walleyes. All these fish were legally hooked in the mouth and released shortly after snapping a picture. Part of the fun of fishing the Wisconsin river is never knowing for sure just what might show up on the end of your line.

In a typical open water fishing season, I fish the river in early spring and again in late fall or early winter. This year was pretty typical in that regard and we finished off our open water season on the river below the dells dam once again.

These three baits from B’Fish’N Tackle were our “Go To” lures during the last few weeks of the season.

Hopefully, those of you who also love to fish the Wisconsin river enjoyed a great year on the water as well.

    Happy Holidays!
