I am going to wire in a shutoff switch to my cranking battery, most of all my accessories run to this battery as well, do I run a distribution block before the switch out just hook up everything to the switch?
Lot’s of ways to do this. I have a distribution/fuse box, that most of my wires are run thru. The motor positive and a lead from the distribution box run to the switch, then 1 cable from the switch to the battery positive.
But, I run my auto-bilge pump switch direct to the battery, as well as my charging lead. This way, even with the “master” switch off, my pump and charger are still active.
On the negative-side, a similiar set-up, a lead from the negative buss bar to the battery, as well as the outboard negative.
