Wireless panning

Who is using a wireless setup for camera panning? Which one, and what are the pro’s & con’s of it?
I’m leaning toward the Marcum since it seems more popular and it’s profile makes it less likely to be knocked over or damaged, but I don’t want to go that route if it doesn’t live up to expectations.
Does it affect the Recon 5 Plus compass at all?

I bought this one for my Ice castle I had trouble right out of the gate should have returned it but wanted to use it. At first it would not turn the gears were jammed manually turned it and then it’s only happened a few times since. Works great otherwise. Pretty slick to turn the cam with a remote and watch a reel minnow getting eaten by a walleye. It has gotten knocked over a couple times but works well. A lower profile unit would probably be better but not sure how it would work with the hole covers. That’s the nice part with a tall one just feeds through the cover.

Stick with the wired Marcum panner, the wireless one doesn’t move in small enough increments so you’re constantly doing two taps right, one tap left, etc etc

I had the aqua vu one too. I had the same problems as Kevin but mine never went away. It worked for about 1 1/2 years and died. I would like to try the Marcum but I’m hesitant because I hear the same problems from friends that have them. Fact is I don’t leave the camera down long enough to need one, but it is nice not getting up to turn the camera. If you use your camera a lot or for kid entertainment then you might want one.

I agree totally with Joe the Marcum wireless cannot make the small movements right or left like the wired one can. Gets real frustrating for sure.

I am glad I asked. Seems they are not perfected yet, and it’s probably easier to deal with the small headache of cables for now.

I had the Marcum wireless for a year. It quit, i put in a new lithium battery since it was rechargeable, and still wouldn’t work. I’ve read water in the cases caused the problem. Don’t know what I’m going with this year, maybe the same with some sort of homemade foot on it to get it a couple inches above the hole.

But they are only $60. Great entertainment.
