Competitor 205 Tiller Wire Clean up!

So I was very rushed setting this boat last spring before our first trip. I planned to work on the boat over the winter because I picked it up late January. That was not in the cards and only ended up having a very short time to rigged this machine completely.

I’m wondering how everybody deals with these long transducer, network , power wires etc. Here’s where I finished off last year.

    Compartment behind the console:
I’m thinking I just loop these up with a strip of velcro and tuck behind the movable tray since I never stow it anyways.

    Small compartment beside livewell:

    Starting Battery Compartment:

    Starboard (Trolling Rod Locker)

Bow Compartment (I mounted a second fuse panel here for the bow graph, gps puck etc)

Install a marine terminal/fuse block to clean up the wires stacked up on the battery terminal. Get more spaces in the terminal block than you strictly need.

All the usual boat wiring advice applies. Grommet all holes that wire passes through, heat shrink or shrink-wrap all splices and connector ends, absolutely NO quickie slickie lockie snapie connecter things, which are the spawn of Satan.

This might also be a good time to install a master cutoff switch if you don’t already have one. Cutoff switch main wire feeds to the terminal block then, so you’ll be doing that wiring anyway.

Is there someplace that you can wrap up that extra transducer wire and then cable tie it out of the way? Tough to recommend a fix without seeing the whole boat. in my last boat there was a nice space under the console that was perfect for tying up bundles of wire.

    Hi Grouse,
Thanks for the input! The idea about the terminal block on the battery is great idea!! I’m gonna order one today )

Ya, probably my only option is to create a loop with these wires and hide them somewhere..

The boat was really easy to run wires, just lift the floors for full access. Except for the transom, it’s full aluminum plate riveted down.

I had to be a contortionist and stick my head in the compartment with the hub and peak behind the the livewell to see how my wires fed through.. It’s the only part of the boat I can’t stand. Why would any manufacture leave that area of the boat so in accessible. UGH!

All power splices are crimped, soldered and heat shrunk. Here is where I installed my master switch.

This is where my on-board charger is installed. You can see the nice neat hole I punched using a buddies hydraulic hole punch he uses for automation cabinets )
I’ve since slide on a clear plastic grommet around the hole.
