My latest project. Spend a lot of time bass fishing out of my 2019 1775 Impact. Wanted a larger platform in the back for myself and anyone who joins me. Wanted it portable enough to be easily taken out and left in the bed of the truck if I’m using the third seat.
Made out of 5/8″ Marine plywood and two old seat posts and mounts. I painted the top of the marine board with Marine based paint before I glued the carpet down. Still need to attach a piece of weather-stripping on the long rough carpet edge underneath ( more for looks than anything)
The black rubber feet on the mounts I got at the Depot in the plumbing dept. Added the third ABS pipe leg for extra support.
I used 3/4″ square aluminum tubing on the sides and in between the jump seats for the platform to rest on when in use. 6 coats of flat black on them after I sanded them smooth in case they get rubbed up against.
The two on the sides I screwed directly through the metal wall and backing and bolted into place ( everything is stainless).
The one between the jump seats is what those brackets are for. I took the bolts out that were holding the “top” part of that compartment tight with the livewell ( the one my boots are sitting on.) I bolted the brackets through the back of the 3/4″ pieces and slid the end of the bracket under the lip that forms that same “top” and ran the bolts back down through the top, through the brackets, through the holes piecing the livewell top and sides together and re-bolted them. Very clean, cant see the mounting brackets and the tubing is totally out of the way of anything. Only 4 holes ( the side brackets) in the boat were drilled.
You can stand the platform on edge if using the third seat to get somewhere and it is completely out of the way.
Can’t wait to check it out. Carpet is a little off but got it at Dan’s Southside, Lund was not readily available so from a different company but does not look half bad.
Gues I have to add another thread to add all the pics
