Is absolutely unwatchable! I really like watching those events we don’t see much but we get the constant hammering of figure skating. Worst of all are the CONSTANT commercials. Like tonight. One rider on the half pike and they go to commercial. They even run commercials in the time while waiting for scores. I understand NBC is paying a pile of cash for this but it is ridiculous.

Not sure what you’re watching but I’ve been casually watching half pipe for the last 30 minutes and haven’t seen a commercial.

Personally I haven’t really noticed the commercials. Also, I haven’t run into any figure skating either.

However I have been primarily been watching NBCSN.

Watching regular NBC. Figure skating was on each of the first four nights I think. Just saw the lineup for tonight and mercifully no figure skating.

Comcast/NBC sucks, one has to pay to watch most of the sport events. I like the curling maches but its on nbcsn and I don’t subsribe to pay tv.

I think the key for variety in the Olympics is the alt channels. Been seeing hockey, ski jumping, luge, biathlon, XC skiing, etc on NBCSN.

There should have been some alpine on the 11 but they’ve been postponed due to wind.

NBC carries Premier League games so you’re seeing some of the hosts from those broadcasts.

Agreed, the commercials on NBC last night during the half pipe were ridiculous!! But the commercials are a welcome site when figure skating is on sleeping

BTW, the gal from the USA that got 5th(I think) in the half pipe got hosed!!! That last run was at least a 91!

NBC’s coverage is garbage every time. Their opening ceremony cut out 23 minutes while looping the US entrance to stretch 1 minute to 7 minutes. The athlete parade took about 50 minutes but was 95 minutes on TV.

    Different Olympics topic…
Here’s a summer view from the take off point of a ski jump in Rovaniemi Finland. You don’t see very much of the hill at all.

You guys are too critical. I think they do a nice job with coverage and storylines and interviews. Part of the fun is getting to know a little bit of the background with some of the athletes.

I will say I am highly annoyed the moguls/freestyle skiing didn’t get better coverage. Probably my favorite event and it came on at 6am with no evening coverage or even replays.

Actually, I’ve been pleased with the coverage so far. They finally seem to realize that huge numbers of viewers do NOT want endless hours of figure skating. There has been plenty of other coverage on network and MSNBC so you can get away from figure skating if its on.

Biathlon is just awesome to watch. Last night was so exciting in the sprint, that last shooting stage is just make or break.

Well done by Shawn White, throwing down a huge qualifier last night in half pipe.

Watched some of the women’s luge this morning. OUCH! Coming off the luge and crashing looks like it hurts real, real bad.

Women’s hockey pummeled the fraud Russians who shouldn’t even be competeing. Nice punishment for Putin’s USSR, cheat and get rewarded by not even sitting out one olympics.

Don’t get me started on the OAR fiasco…NO, you can’t have a Russian home base and NO, you can’t sport the Russian flag since Russia is banned this year. But YES, you can have over 170 athletes compete under the name “Olympic Athletes from Russia”…

All that aside. Yes, I think that will be a very good game to watch.

NBC Sports App is great. I pick and choose what I want to watch live, plus I can go back and select any number of highlights, replays, etc.

I guess if you’re limited to just the NBC network station, I could see where the coverage would appear to suck.
